What is "Search Engine Position Checker Beta! "?
"Search Engine Position Checker Beta!" is a tool to check your rankings on search engine result pages for given keyword for a domain in real-time.
It checks the given keyword and domain for 12 search engines. It check them in google, msn, yahoo, aol, ask and altavista + UK version of all these search engines.
How does it work?
It checks the rankings in real-time after you make your selection of search engines, keywords and domain.
It emulates manual search as you would do yourself and then analyses the data to find out at what position your keywords are ranked in chosen search engines.
What is the need for this?
We find it really painful to check rankings for keywords on different search engines. On searching we found tools that can give rankings for google and yahoo.
MSN AOL and Ask are other search engines that are picking up very fast and we could not find a tool that can check rankings for these. So we decided to make a tool that can check rankings for me for all the search engines that matter.
Why is it so slow?
It is slow if you choose all the search engines. Imagine you doing a search with keyword and domain name on 14 different search engines and then checking if you do come up in first 10 results.
It does exactly the same thing of emulating the manual search; ignoring annoying sponsored results and then checking if your site comes up in top ten rankings. I would optimize it further in next version.
How accurate are the results?
Results are pretty accurate. You might get different results when you do search yourself because search engines these days do geo-targeting of results to make them relevant from the country you are searching them from. Our tool checks them from our server in US so there might be slight differences in results.
Do you take into account sponsored results by some search engines?
This tool ignores the sponsored results automatically.

What if I want to pay for it?
Umm… it was really hard work. You really have to twist my arm to do this.
Can I run it on my own server?
No, it's only offered as a free service as of now. Future versions might allow you to run it from your own server.
What search engines you are planning to add in future?
We are planning to add Alltheweb, Teoma, Excite and Lycos in near future.
Can you add search engine I would like to check rankings for?
